Boston Mourns Josephine Obaze As Funeral Ceremonies Begin

Nigerians in Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America are mourning as they try to come to terms with the untimely death of one of their own, twenty five-year old Josephine Aiyevbekpen Obaze, whose life was cut short in a ghastly motor accident on Monday November 28, 2016.

Josephine was the daughter of Boston community leader, activist, member of the Benin Club of Massachusetts and Nigerian Catholic Community, Mrs. Suzan Nosabota.

Survived by her mother, Susan Nosabota, father Mr. Douglas Obaze and her maternal oldest brother, Mr. Osayomwanbo Nicholas Obaze, she’s 2nd and only daughter of her mother.

Her death sent shock waves through the community who remains shattered by the unfortunate incident. On that fateful night, mother and daughter said good night to each other as they both headed out to their respective overnight jobs and never to see again.

A few moments later, Mrs. Nosabota received a call to come back home from work immediately, where she was told the uncompromising hands of death had snatched away her only daughter – one of the pride of the Nigerian community in Boston.

Until her death, Josephine, a behavior therapist was a very hard-working, brilliant, intelligent, charming and promising young woman, pursuing her Master of Science degree in Autism studies at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell, MA.

Since her demise, Boston has never been the same again, especially for those who saw, interacted, ate and danced with her the previous Saturday, November 26, 2016 at a Thanksgiving party.

The Obaze family, in statement in Boston during the week, released by Uncle Efe Obaze and made available to Alltimepost.com has set the following for her funeral ceremonies:

Friday December 16, 2016 at 6pm – 11pm at St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church 517 Blue Hill Ave Dorchester, MA.
Viewing, Requiem Mass and Interment will take place on: Saturday December 17, 2016. Viewing time is 10am – 11.45am at Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street South Boston, MA.

Requiem mass time is 12: pm -1:30pm at St. Katherine Drexel Catholic Church, 517 Blue Hill Ave Dorchester, MA.
Interment

Her remains would be committed to mother earth same day (Saturday) December 17, 2016, 2: pm at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Cummins High Way Boston MA.

Nigerian community in Boston has been urged to support the family morally and financially to enable them pull through this very trying moment.

About The Young Woman, Josephine Aiyevbekpen Obaze:

On Friday, the 28th day of June 1991 at about 2:45 pm, the great city of Benin in Benin Kingdom witnessed the birth of a pretty damsel at the University of Teaching Hospital, Benin City. Her name: Aiyevbekpen, Josephine, Sophia, Ekhosuehi Obaze, daughter of Susan Nosabota and Douglas Obaze. She’s 2nd and only daughter of her mother, Susan Nosabota.

Josephine was a practicing Catholic, baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Evbhoriaria Benin in September 1991. She took her first holy communion at Saint Paul Catholic Church airport road Benin City in April 2000.

Back home in Nigeria, she was very friendly, attracted to and by all who know her. Josephine’s childhood days were filled with friends and family love, and also religious activities. She loved being around her peers dancing, outing, travelling, watching movies, television series and drama.

She had a good sense of humor with excellent memory. In the middle of talking and playing with friends, she could still tell you what your conversation was about. She’ll remember family and friends’ birthdays, including important things about them, for years. She was nice to be with, observed people feelings, and made them feel good.

She visited various cities within and outside US, including Florida, Las Vegas, New York, California Dallas, Houston, Jamaica Miami, Fort Lola dale, and New Jersey.

She loved mostly, birthdays and graduation – this explains why Josephine did not work during weekends. She enjoyed her well planned life style during her short life on earth.

Her formal education started in1993 at Ebenezer private nursery school Benin City: pre-kg.

Between1994 and 2002 – Our Lady of Apostles nursery and primary school, Benin City; JSS 1-3 2002-2005 at Girls Model State School, Abudu, Edo State; SS 1-2 Between 2005-2007 at Federal Government Girls College Benin City; 11th and 12th grade between 2007-2009, Brighton High School, Brighton MA; 2009-2013, University of Massachusetts, Boston MA. – BA Criminal Justice.

Employment:
While alive, Josephine worked for various companies in Boston, including: MAB Community Services as Residential counselor -2011; NEEDS Center Inc., as Assistant Program Coordinator , 2014-2015; North Suffolk mental Health Association, Inc.; May Institute as Behavior Therapist, 2016; New England: Behavior Therapist, and Vinfen Organization in 2016.
