Edo CP Launches “Change Begins With Me” Mantra, Warns against Corruption

Edo State Commissioner of Police Mr Haliru Gwandu has flagged off the “Change Begins With Me” campaign in Edo State Police Command, cautioning police officers against sharp practices.

Mr Gwandu accompanied by the representative of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG zone 5 DCP Mohammed Gwona, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and other senior officers of the command launched the federal government agenda at the Police Officers Mess, GRA, Benin City, yesterday.

He said that the flag off of the mantra at Edo Police Command was in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police Mr Ibrahim Idris as every respected institution in Nigeria is expected to key into the agenda.

“In furtherance to the change agenda of the current federal government of Nigeria led by President Mohammed Buhari, which is replicated by the Inspector-General of Police IGP Idris.

“I, on behalf of my office, men of Edo State Police Command welcome you all to the launching of the agenda in Edo State Police Command.

“The primary aim of this agenda is to key into the current anti-corruption war and other social vices instituted by the federal government which the Inspector-General of Police has directed to key into that”. CP Gwandu stated.

He assured that under his watch the state police command would continue with community policing with a view to sustaining the relative peace in the state.

He assured that extortion under any guise and extra judicial killings would be checkmated with the current agenda.

COMPOL Gwandu announced the creation of the state Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit, PCRRU, which he disclosed would be used to address public complains about the misconduct of Police officers in the state.
