The Senate has fixed Wednesday, October 29, to screen the newly-appointed service chiefs for confirmation.
The Senate had earlier scheduled the screening for next week after President Bola Tinubu wrote letters requesting their screening.
However, the Red Chamber later reversed itself on the grounds of the urgency for the security heads to commence work immediately.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, appealed to his colleagues to approve Wednesday and the screening date, which was unanimously endorsed by senators.
“They have to start working immediately”, he stated.
Tinubu wrote two letters, one specifically requesting the confirmation of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede.
The second letter conveyed a request to confirm the Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Waheedi Shaibu; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General Emmanuel Undiendeye.
