Newborn Baby Dumped In Sack Rescued In Edo

A newborn baby girl abandoned inside a sack has been rescued at Obaretin Community in the Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

It was gathered that residents of the community made the shocking discovery and alerted the Ologbo Police Station at about 7am on September 8, 2026.

The Edo State Police Command spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed the incident, saying the baby was immediately taken to a hospital, where she was certified healthy.

ASP Ikoedem said investigation was ongoing to identify the child’s parents and unravel the circumstances surrounding her abandonment.

She added that relevant authorities had been contacted to provide safe shelter and appropriate care for the infant.
