Accord Has No Governorship Candidate In Oyo-imumolen-led-faction

The Prof. Chris Imumolen-led faction of the Accord Party says the party has no candidate for the 2027 Oyo Governorship election.

The faction’s National Secretary, Abdullahi Muktar, in a statement in Abuja on Sunday said neither Oriyomi Hamzat nor Olakunle Busari (Gudugudu) was the legitimate candidate of the party.

Muktar said that the parallel processes that produced both Busari and Hamzat had been rejected and nullified by the faction.

“We maintain that a proper and legitimate process must be conducted in accordance with the law and the authentic leadership structure of the party,” he said.

Muktar called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to review and adjust its records to reflect the actual legal status of the Accord and its Oyo governorship nomination.

He quoted Imumolen, factional National Chairman of Accord, as saying the Party’s leadership dispute was now before the Federal High Court, where the issue of the legitimate leadership of Accord would ultimately be determined.

“We remain confident that, once the court settles the matter, all relevant institutions, including INEC, will be required to comply with the binding decision of the court,” Muktar said.

He said that the era of confusion must end, adding that Accord deserves one legitimate leadership, one lawful process and one authentic structure.
