Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has urged members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo Central Senatorial District to be united and committed to securing victory for the party in the 2027 general elections.
Okpebholo made the call on Thursday at an interactive meeting with APC stakeholders, party faithful and support groups in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of the state.
He revealed that unity and collective effort remained critical to sustaining the party’s growth and electoral success.
The governor noted that the Town Hall is part of efforts to strengthen party cohesion, listen to members’ concerns and to mobilise support ahead of the forthcoming local government elections and the 2027 presidential election.
The governor urged participants to put aside their differences and work together to deliver victory for the APC at all levels.
“Politics is all about give and take. I called this meeting to see faces I have not seen for a long time.
“This is the time to tell ourselves the truth, and seeing you here shows that I am supported,” he said.
The governor expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu would receive strong support from Edo in the 2027 presidential election, saying that his administration’s policies and projects has impacted positively on Nigerians.
“Two point five million votes is very sure for Tinubu. The President has worked for the nation and we have also benefited from his administration,” he added.
He commended the federal government for the rehabilitation of Ekpoma-Ehor Road, noting that the project has improved transportation and economic activities in the area.
Okpebholo highlighted the removal of fuel subsidy by the Tinubu administration, describing it as a difficult decision aimed at redirecting resources toward national development.
On his part, the APC Deputy State Chairman, Sylvester Aigboboh, urged party members to continue supporting the current administration and work toward victory in the local government areas and general elections.
Aigboboh explained that retaining political leadership was necessary to sustain ongoing development efforts across various sectors of the Edo economy.
