Edo Vigilante Who Killed UK-bound Colleague In Police Custody

Edo State Police Command said it has arrested the trigger-happy vigilante alleged to have accidentally shot to death, at a funeral in Benin City last weekend, his colleague who was ready to fly to United Kingdom after securing a five-year work visa.

The command also stated that the locally made single barrel gun and the expended cartridge used for the murder were equally recovered.

Police identified the alleged killer vigilante as Moses Isimor, 42, a member of Edo State Security Network, ESSN.

The Command Spokesman SP Chidi Nwabuzor disclosed this to our correspondent who was in his office, today, for an update on the killing on Friday October 20.

The murdered UK-bound Vigilante member, Cyril Igiebor. 

Our correspondent checks at the police command headquarters this afternoon revealed that investigators at the homicide section of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), have commenced investigation.

The locally made single barrel gun and the expended cartridge recovered from the suspected shooter were in custody of exhibits keeper at the police headquarters, Benin.

Recall that Alltimepost.com had last Saturday reported that a trigger-happy vigilante accidentally shot to death his colleague at a funeral in Benin City.

The killing, it was reported forced mourners to scamper to safety at 5, Eheneden Lane,  off Eheneden Street, off Ekehuan Road,  Uzebu quarters in Benin City, Edo State capital.

The victim Cyril Igiebor, 28 was said to have recently bought a flight ticket to travel to the United Kingdom after he successfully secured a five-year UK work Visa.

He was among a team of armed vigilante members present during a Service of Songs in honor of a woman (name withheld) at her residence.

It was gathered that the bullets from the gun hit the victim’s arms and chest prompting his being rushed to a nearby private hospital, which was alleged to have demanded a police report before giving him the needed lifesaving medical attention.

He however died few hours after while being taken to a government owned hospital at the city center.

The deceased’s elder brother Mr. Sunny Igiebor while weeping over the killing of his younger brother stated that he paid for a flight ticket three days ago for the deceased to travel out of the country after he successfully secured five years UK work Visa.

The killing brings to four the number of Edo State Security Network (ESSN) shot to death within a spate of one month in the State capital.

Recalled also that three members of the Edo State Security Network were gunned down in an ambush at Okhunmwun Community in Ovia North-East local government area, September 21.
