Eghosa Old Boys Bid Farewell To Their Own, Justice Morrison Ojeabu Ighodalo

Members of Eghosa Old Boys Association (’76 set) recently, in Benin City paid their last respect to one of their own, late Justice Morrison Ojeabu Ighodalo, who recently succumbed to the will of God after an illness.

Before the burial ceremony, which was attended by dignitaries from far and near, a delegation of the ’76 set of the association, led by Pastor Ken Okungbowa, a close friend and classmate of the deceased, visited the bereaved family in Benin City.

The delegation was received by Ighodalo’s widow, Mrs. Valerie Ighodaro; eldest son, Gabriel, and his (Gabriel’s) uncle, Joe Ebehi. Pastor Okungbowa conveyed the association’s message of condolence to the family, saying it was devastating to hear about the sad news.

Also, in a message of condolence to the family, one of Ighodalo’s United States-based close friends and classmates, Dr. Osagie Igbinosun told Alltimepost.com that he received the sad news with rude shock.

“It was a sad day when the news reached Eghosa ’76 set old boys that Hon. Justice Morrison Ojeabu Ighodalo, Edo State High Court Judge has joined his ancestor,” he noted.

Igbinosun said Justice Ighodalo was his childhood friend, with whom he started Eghosa Anglican Grammar School the same year, same class through graduation from high school.

“Hon. Justice Ighodalo was our Chapel Prefect in school, a devoted Christian that loves his classmates and everyone in general.

“When I think of Hon. Justice Ighodalo, I remember the love, loyalty and devotion he has for his alma mater, Eghosa Anglican Grammar School.  In my four consecutive years I helped to organize scholarship awards for Eghosa students, he was always present to give moral support, even when you inform him at the last minute,” Igbinosun recalled.

In 2014, he continued, Justice Ighodalo received Excellent Leadership Award in Chicago, USA in recognition of his distinguished service and devotion as a Judge in Edo State High Court.

“Eghosa class of ’76 and his alma mater will really miss him. May his gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace.”

Justice Ighodalo died on Monday February 15, 2021 at the age of 61. He was a renowned High Court Judge, and 3rd in the Edo State Judicial hierarchy.

His interment took place on March 26, 2021, following a valedictory court session at the Ceremonial Court Hall of the High Court of Justice, Sapele Road, Benin City, Edo State capital.
