I will Make Edo Hotter For Criminals, Protect Law-abiding Citizens, New Police Chief Pledges

By MIKE OSAROGIAGBON

Benin City – Newly deployed Commissioner of Police to Edo State, CP Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu assumed duty today with a pledge to improve Edo security and make the state hotter for criminals.

CP Hakeem made the pledge shortly after taking over from out-going CP Johnson Kokumo at the state police command headquarters in Benin City on Wednesday.

Speaking after a brief handover ceremony at the CP’ Office, the newly deployed CP assured law-abiding residents of the adequate security of lives and property.

“My major assignment here is to improve on the security architecture on the ground, to make sure that the law-abiding citizens of the state are well protected. And to make Edo State hotter for criminals.

“My boss (his predecessor) has done his best, mine is to take off from where he stopped.” CP Hakeem assured.

Earlier during the handover, the out-going CP Johnson Kokumo stated that he had been sent on a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), in Kuru, Jos, Plateau State.

Presenting copies of his handover note to his successor, CP Johnson Kokumo urged CP Hakeem Olusegun Odumosu to take over the duties of policing Edo State, henceforth.

“I am handing over the duties and responsibilities of policing Edo State to you today, Wednesday, January 2, 2019,” CP Johnson Kokumo stated.

The new commissioner should go to work first for Edo people. He should refrain for now from making exaggerating remarks ” I will make Edo State Hotter for Criminals”, when we haven’t seen or noticed his excellent work in Edo State.
