Buhari Appoints Acting Head Of Service

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mrs. Winifred Ekanem Oyo-Ita as the acting Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Babachir Lawal, who conveyed this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said the appointment was with effect from Wednesday.

She replaces Mr Danladi Kifasi, who has already proceeded on his pre-retirement leave ahead of his full retirement in December.

Mrs. Oyo-Ita, who until her appointment was the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, is from Odukpani Local Government, Cross River State.

“The appointment is a testimony of the president’s implicit confidence and trust in her ability to discharge the responsibilities of the office of Head of the Civil Service of the Federation,” Lawal said.

Winifred Oyo-Ita Ekanem is 51-year-old. She was born 20th April, 1964.She hails from Adiabo community of Odukpani local council of Cross Rivers state.

She did her secondary school education at Queens College, Yaba, and graduated from University of Lagos in 1984.

She is also a Master’s degree holder from the Nasarawa State University. It is safe to say that the new Head of Service has had a feel of all the different ethnics group in Nigeria.

Oyo-Ita is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN).She was the director of finance and accounts at the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.

Before Oyo-Ita’s appointment as the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in April 2014, she was Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs. (TRIBUNE)
