Support ENAW Recreational Park Project – Ohenzuwa … Says It “Will Create A Sound Mind In A Sound Body”

By Alltimepost.com

ENAW park project 1.As premier Edo organization in the Diaspora, Edo National Association Worldwide (ENAW) prepares for its 24th convention, the chairman of the organization’s park project committee, Mr. Mike Ohenzuwa has called for the support of the ultra-modern multi-million dollars program.

According to Mr. Ohenzuwa, the Recreational Park, a signature project of the current ENAW administration, located in Utekon in the outskirt of Benin City would be showcased at the global event of the organization which kicks off from Friday September 4 to 6, 2015 in Los Angeles, United States of America.

In a press statement during the week, Mr. Ohenzuwa said the purpose of the park was to improve the people’s quality of life through recreation, sports  and exercise towards achieving a general wellbeing.ENAW park project 2.

Members of the committee are  men  and women of Edo extraction, representing the various geographic zones of the state. The project, according to him would be replicated in various parts of the state.

Mr. Ohenzuwa tied the initiative to the homogenous nature of the people, saying: “Edo people consist mainly of Akoko Edo, Afemai, Bini, Esan, Etsako and Ora.

“These ethnic individuals can be found in Benin City, the capital of Edo State. These people are hard working with strong belief in our traditional culture.

“As an Edo born person outside my place of origin, I came to see things that we enjoy at home and what more we could be doing to improve our ways of life at home.

“As an Edo person in USA and in Europe, I realized that what the Europeans in Europe and the Americans in USA/Canada take for granted is to us at home or in Edo State a privilege that we need to earn or have our leaders consider these things as necessities or requirements of our people.

ENAW Park project 4.“Edo people are hardworking folks. They work so hard that they have less time to relax and improve that physical strength which requires rejuvenating of the mind as the roman poet- Juvenal once said “Mens sana in corpore sana,” meaning a sound mind in a sound body.

“The brain needs to refresh, the body needs to relax to get rid of stress and build a physically fit body that will hold a sound mind.

“ENAW felt as Bob Kennedy once felt and said “Ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country.

“We the Edo people in USA/Canada or all over the worldwide felt it as our duty to do something for the Edo people.

“As a result of what we have experienced outside our State of origin in Nigeria, we need to enhance the mood of our Edo families in Nigeria since the government does not see it as a necessity to embark on such activities.”

Mr. Ohenzuwa  said that ENAW  embarked on series of project, including the recreational park project to help the people of Edo state, adding: “this project was created for the fact that ‘All work without play’ makes Jack, Odion or any Edo person a dull person.”ENAW park project 3.

“We intend to create as sound mind in a sound body so all efforts have been devoted to making this project a success.

“We need energetic Edo citizens and hence with an early beginning of providing recreational opportunities for our people and engaging them in the understanding of its values, we will create sound minds in sound bodies.”

He praised the park committee members whom he said, have devoted themselves to the success of the project, while acknowledging the support of the national president of the organization, Mr. Franklin Omoruna, who, according to him has worked so hard for the realization of the park dream.

This park, currently under construction, according to him will be a stepping stone to positively impacting the lives of the people of Edo State.

Mr. Ohenzuwa said this lofty program could only be achieved with the moral and financial support of all people and organizations of goodwill.

“We can only achieve this enormous dream if our brothers and sisters, companies and organizations, inside and outside Edo State contribute to the project.

“Hence, we request all effort and contribution from everyone. This is a project that will go around every corner of the state for all its citizens.
