Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP) Edo State branch has been described as an organization which the people of Edo State should embrace with open hands because of its proactive and noble objectives in peace and  conflict resolution.

Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Henry Idahagbon  made the remarks when a  delegation of the  Society paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Benin City during the week.

‘‘Peace is an essential commodity which we cannot ignore. It is my position that because we have our own internal conflict which SPSP can adequately intervene in and help to resolve, the people of Edo State should embrace the noble and proactive objectives the group has set to achieve,’’ he said.

Barr. Idahagbon wondered why SPSP has not fully taken off in Edo State before now and pledged to support the group’s inaugural activities.

Earlier, the protem chairman of SPSP, Edo State branch who led the delegation hinted that the organization was made up of university-trained peace and conflict resolution practitioners.

According to him, it is a non-profit, non-political organization that promotes the culture of peace with non-violent approach to resolving dispute between inter and intra parties.

The following SPSP members made the courtesy visit: Comrade Igbotako Nowinta, Sylvester Eromosele, Chief Manfred Idehen and Jerome Asokwa.
