Edo South Senator-elect, Urghoghide Commends INEC

Edo South Senator-elect on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Pharmacist Matthew Urghoghide has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a job well done in the just concluded general elections in Nigeria.

He gave the commendation on Tuesday at the Edo State headquarters of INEC in Benin City after collecting his Certificate of return from Dr. Ismael Igbani, the National Commissioner of the electoral body supervising Bayelsa, Delta and Edo States.

Urhoghide expressed appreciation over INEC’s performance and that the presentation of certificate to him signified trust and the beginning of the journey in service to the people of Edo state and Nigeria.

‘’I want to say that what you have done is appreciated by me, my party and the people of Edo South Senatorial District.

“This presentation, in fulfillment of the law, has gone ahead in putting a rubber-stamp that the exam we did have now been certified.

“So, this is a certificate of trust and it is a journey that we have embarked on today in our service to our people and fatherland,’’ the highly elated Senator-elect said.

Urghogide also urged INEC’s officials to make probity their watch word so that confidence can be reposed in the system.

‘’People have become paranoid in Nigeria because of elections; this is because of past events. But I wish to ask that probity should be the word so that Nigerians can have confidence in the impartiality of the electoral body.”

The certificate of return presentation ceremony which had the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Edo State, Barrister Mike Igini, and other principal officers of the Commission present was witnessed by large crowd of party supporters.
