The commissioning of the projects last Friday was part of activities marking the 6th anniversary of the government of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.

Governor Fashola said, “Today I’m very proud and pleased to be here because as I drove round the city, I saw remarkable developments in roads infrastructure that have taken place here.

I saw the expanded Dawson Road, Akpakpava, Sapele Road, Airport and the New Lagos Road. There are lots more that I am yet to see. But why are roads important? They are the link to our civilization.”

He stressed the importance of good road network in societal development, saying “a government that recognizes this understands how to manage an economy.”

Edo Govt House PhotoGovernor Fashola commended his Comrade Oshiomhole for his government laudable development program, remarking that besides opening economic activities in all the areas of the state with roads, the rebuilding of school infrastructure was the right thing to do.

“Roads will come and go, but the most important resource is the human resource. We must develop them mentally and physically and this is the role that education plays.”

He thanked Governor Oshiomhole for his avowed commitment to restoring Educational development in the state.

“This state has had an enviable track record of great academic minds and developers of Nigerians,” reminding the school children to hold tenaciously what they had learnt in the school and that such knowledge would take them to enviable heights in the future.

In his remarks, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole thanked Governor Fashola for coming all the way from Lagos to commission the projects.

He said, “The story of this school, like several other schools in the state reflect the story of Edo State prior to 2009.

This school like other schools had no roof. Within classrooms you find pothole. We had to call them classrooms because that was what they called them but in truth, a lot of them could not be described as classrooms.”

He congratulated teachers in the state, especially those of Payne Primary School for their diligence and promise that their welfare would continually be given top priority.

The federal government, he said could not pay December salary for its staff, “ but here in Edo State, we did not only pay but we paid before Christmas and as I speak, the January salary is already being processed.”

Oshiomhole called on Edo State people to use their Voters’ cards wisely by voting General Muhammadu Buhari as the Next president of Nigeria and all APC candidates in the forthcoming General elections.

Earlier, a resident of the community, Chief Isaac Oyorba, the Oyorba of Benin Kingdom traced the history of Payne Primary School prior to the assumption of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as governor of the state.

He said, “Let us pray for Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his party because they have brought light to all aspects of our life.”

Why should we leave light for darkness? Is it roads, beautification, street light, empowerment of our children, new democratic culture? Oshiomhole has done well.

We cannot move away to opposition no matter their advertisement and television propaganda, we know where we are going.”

Chief Oyorba therefore advised electorate in Oredo Local Government to get their permanent voters’ cards as the only means to effect change not only at the presidency but in all elections from the State Houses of Assembly to the National Assembly.
