Oshiomhole Recalls Ihonvbere, Accepts Commissioner’s Resignation

By Alltimepost.com,

Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has reinstated Professor Julius Ihonvbere as the Secretary to the State Government.

The reinstatement followed the review and resolution of the issues which led to the resignation of the SSG on Tuesday December 9, 2014. Prof Ihonvbere’s reinstatement is with immediate effect.

It would be recalled that following his unexpected defeat at the Edo North Senatorial District primaries of the All Progressive Congress on Sunday December 7, 2014, Prof. Ihonvbere resigned his appointment.

In a reaction suggestive of a crack in the wall of the house, Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State immediately accepted his resignation in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Peter Okhiria.

Prof.  Ihonvbere was defeated by grass root politician, retired Major Francis Alimekhena who will carry his party’s flag in the senatorial election of February 2015.

Prof. Ihonvbere is from Owan West, one of the six, including Owan East, Akoko-Edo, Etsako Central, Etsako West and Etsako East Local Government Areas that make up Edo North Senatorial District.

Alltimepost.com had exclusively reported, quoting a source close to the secretary of state that he had allegedly vowed to resign his appointment if he failed in his bid to win the Edo North senatorial district ticket of his party which he was largely expected to win due to his relationship with the governor.

In another development, Edo State Commissioner for Youths, Sports and Social Mobilization, Hon Chris Okaeben has resigned his appointment in line with the electoral and constitutional requirements which mandate political appointees to resign 45 days before an election.

Hon Okaeben is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Oredo West Constituency in the House of Assembly election holding in February, 2015.

The Hon Commissioner thanked the Governor for the opportunity given him to serve.

The Governor who has accepted the resignation of Hon Okaeben thanked him for his contributions to the Edo project and wished him resounding success in the February election.
