“Obasanjo Is Attacking Jonathan Because He Refused To Be His Boy” – Group

The Centre for Social Justice, Equity and Transparency said former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s verbal attack on President Goodluck Jonathan is because the former president is seeking relevance.

According to the executive secretary of the organisation, Dr. Rotimi Adeola, Obasanjo was not satisfied with his role as an elder statesman but desired to be in the front wheel of the government, keeping the president under his whims and caprices, a plot which had failed, thus warranting his recent outbursts.

“It is also known to all that Olusegun Obasanjo lacks the moral standing to criticise this and any other government as he and other past leaders had failed Nigerians in all his times as president.

“It will be wiser for Obasanjo to keep mute when matters of human right violations and violence are mentioned as Nigerians have not forgotten the Zaki-Biam and Odi massacres, which have become nightmares to the affected communities till date.

“Democracy has never fared better in Nigeria as under the Goodluck Jonathan administration. With the judiciary enjoying an autonomy never dreamt of in the Obasanjo era, where due process was thrown to the wind and rule of law a thing of distant dreams.

“OBJ should be reminded of his infamous role in the undemocratic removal of governors like Joshua Dariye, Chris Ngige and Deprieye Alamieyeseigha.

“It is too early to think Nigerians have forgotten his famous third term attempt. We unequivocally demand that Olusegun Obasanjo desist from his journey of sowing seeds of discord in the nation and allow Nigerians enjoy the dividends of democracy”, Adeola said.(Daily Post)
