Chairman, Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, Mr. Evbareke Jenkins Osunde says they are committed to provision of adequate security for lives and property during the end-of year celebrations in the local government area.
Jerkins Osude, observed in a statement, at the weekend that the period of the festivities “should not be seen by criminal elements as an opportunity to inflict harm on the Society.’’
“The Nigerian Police, Oredo Vigilante team and other security agencies will stay acutely alert to ensure that the people are able to celebrate the holidays in a safe and secured atmosphere, ” Osunde assured.
He noted: “It is our abiding commitment to make Oredo a hostile terrain for cultists and armed gangs.”
Hon. Osunde stated that the Market Surveillance Unit of the Police recently launched an operation, leading to recovery of illegal firearms from hoodlums.
He revealed that cultists operating in the Council area were in for hard times as the Police and Oredo Vigilante team have been actively tracking activities of criminal elements with success stories of combating and arresting some of them during the Christmas celebration.
Hon. Osunde observed that the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has been remarkably proactive in his strategic directives for combating crimes adding that the Governor “spent considerable time during the holidays perfecting strategies and actions aimed at tackling worsening security situation in the state.”
He said: “The Council will do its utmost best to maximize the effect of the Governor’s overall security architecture at the local level through Oredo 3-pronged Security strategies.”
