BEVERLY, MA — About 75 people gathered in front of Beverly City Hall Tuesday for a Black Lives Matter protest.
Organizers had originally planned a seven-mile march from Beverly, through Salem and to the Unitarian Universalist Church in Marblehead to protest the theft of a Black Lives Matter banner in Beverly and the vandalism of a similar banner at the Marblehead church. But the plan was changed when Tuesday afternoon’s forecast called for thunderstorms.
Organizers now plan to hold the March on Friday, beginning at Beverly City Hall at 4 p.m. The Salem News reported Tuesday’s rally, which featured several speakers, drew a small counterprotest, including two men carrying a “Police Lives Matter Banner.”
