Man, 29, Commits Suicide In Benin

A 29-year-old man, identified as Etinosa Aiwuyor.has allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in Benin City.

He was said to have committed the abominable act while his parents and siblings were away from the house. It was also learnt that he did not leave a note behind.

It was further learnt that his mother discovered the dangling body when she returned home and opened his door about 7pm, May 29, 2020.

The incident attracted neighbours and onlookers to the scene, a yet-to-be numbered house on Aiwuyor Street, Off Kumolu Street, Off Upper Siluko road, Egor, Benin City.

Family members and sympathisers thronged the residence when our reporter visited last weekend. Father and uncle of the deceased Mr Joseph Aiwuyor and Mr Enoma respectively, expressed shock over the incident.

They said the deseased was alone at home at the time of incident, hence no one could give account of what transpired. Mr Joseph Aiwuyor said he was in his village when he received the sad news.

“The boy has mental problem which we have been managing for the past 15 years. The body has been buried…the community and Ogida police were all involved,” Mr Enoma stated.
