Demonstrators Descend Upon INEC Kogi Offices Over Ruling

A mass of women demonstrators laid siege to the Kogi State offices of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Today(Thursday) .

The women, many of whom carried placards and were dressed in black, protested the ruling of the November 21st governorship elections as inconclusive by INEC.

The Kogi State Police Command deployed police officers around the INEC offices to ensure order was maintained.

It will be recalled that the late Abubakar Audu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor, was initially declared the winner of the election.

Many of the women present at the protest claimed that INEC’s ruling could plunge Kogi State into “chaos”. However, the death of Mr. Audu has spurred major internal division within the Kogi State APC leadership.

“We are here to register a protest about INEC’s declaration that the election was inconclusive and to let them know that they are the ones that have created this problem now.

INEC wants to deliberately set Kogi on fire, for reasons best known to them,” One protester told the Nation Newspaper.(the nation newspaper)
