Six people, including two operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC), have been hospitalized following a machete attack at Ogun Community in Edo State.
The Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this to our correspondent in Benin at the weekend.
The incident occurred at about 1:30pm on September 9, 2026, when operatives of the Ebelle Division in Igueben local government area responded to a distress call from the community.

The victims, identified as Christian Ogidi, Adoghe Boniface, Jackson Eboh and Ogbemudia Igubinoba, alongside two ESSC operatives, sustained various degrees of machete injuries from the machete-wielding assailant.
They were rushed to Zion Hospital, Ebelle, in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, where they are responding to treatment.
The suspect, who was believed to be under the influence of hard drugs, was arrested at the scene.
The machete and other exhibits were also recovered, while the prompt intervention of the operatives helped prevent further harm and restore calm to the community.
