‘ Nothing Will Save You From Kuje Prison’: Gololo Accuses Wike Of Selling Abuja Green Areas, Blocking Waterways

Gololo also accused Wike of allocating, selling portions of the capital’s green spaces, and targeting houses belonging to political opponents and perceived enemies for demolition.

Political commentator Haruna Garba Gololo, popularly known as Garus Gololo, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately sack the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of mismanaging Abuja and blocking green areas and waterways.

Gololo also accused Wike of allocating, selling portions of the capital’s green spaces, and targeting houses belonging to political opponents and perceived enemies for demolition.

The political commentator made this known in a video obtained by SaharaReporters, in which he also blamed Wike for the worsening flooding being witnessed across Abuja, including areas such as Maitama.

According to him, the current situation was unprecedented since the creation of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to him, the flooding across the nation’s capital is evidence of the failure of the FCT administration to properly manage the city’s drainage systems, waterways, green areas and other components of the Abuja Master Plan.

Gololo alleged that Wike is more interested in destroying properties belonging to people he considers political opponents than addressing the pressing infrastructural and environmental problems confronting residents of Abuja.

He added that while residents were battling severe flooding, Wike was concentrating on properties belonging to people he considered his political enemies.

Gololo said that properties marked by officials of the FCT Administration for demolition are often those belonging to people perceived to be politically opposed to Wike or those who have political disagreements with him, particularly members or associates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who are not supporting the Tinubu administration.

Gololo named Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed as possible targets, alleging that individuals who had political disagreements with Wike could face demolition exercises by the FCT Administration.

“Any house you see Wike marking, it is opposition, or his faction on that PDP. Maybe Seyi Makinde or Governor Bala Mohammed, His Excellency,” he said.

He further accused the minister of using the powers of his office to settle political scores, saying that people who have disagreements with Wike are being targeted.

“Anyone he has problem with, he will mark the house. That is what he is doing in Port Harcourt,” Gololo said, referring to Wike’s political activities in Rivers State.

Gololo also accused the minister of failing to adequately account for funds allocated to the FCT and alleged that contracts under Wike’s administration were being awarded to companies associated with him.

“Wike is not working anything. He gives his company the contracts. Everywhere is water, everywhere in Abuja. This is the first time,” he said.

He challenged Wike to disclose how much had been spent on contracts executed under his administration since he became FCT Minister.

“Look, Wike uses his company to work. Okay, let him tell us how much he spends. In the whole contract, since Wike came here. During Bello (Muhammad Musa Bello’s time as FCT minister), they were publishing what they gave to the Federal Capital,” Gololo said.

“Do you know how much they give to Wike? Nobody knows. They call him even in the Senate to defend his budget, and he did not mention it. He was laughing because he knows nothing will come out of it.”

Gololo’s allegations come amid growing concerns over flooding in several parts of Abuja, with residents and stakeholders raising questions about the state of drainage channels, waterways and other flood-control infrastructure in the capital.

He accused Wike of failing to protect Abuja’s designated green areas and claimed that portions of the city’s green spaces have been blocked, allocated or sold to individuals.

“He blocks all green areas. He sells it to the people, uses it for himself and his family. And now people are suffering,” Gololo said.

He said the obstruction of waterways and green areas was contributing to flooding, with water reportedly entering residential areas and affecting residents and vehicles.

Gololo repeatedly urged President Tinubu to remove Wike from office, arguing that the minister has failed to meet the expectations of Abuja residents.

“Mr. President, please sack Wike. Wike is not working,” he said.

“Mr. President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief, sack Wike. We tell you, Wike is not working anything.”

Accusing Wike of converting public spaces for the benefit of himself and his political allies, he asked, “The whole garden you sell it to yourself. And your allies, why? You blocked water, why?”

According to him, the consequences of blocking waterways and converting green areas are now being felt by ordinary residents, whose homes, businesses and vehicles are being affected by flooding.

“Water is carrying people and their cars,” he said.

Gololo further criticised Wike over the minister’s failure to properly manage Abuja’s drainage and flood-control systems.

He said the situation had become a source of embarrassment for the Federal Capital, insisting that the minister should be held responsible for the condition of the city.

“Hey, disgrace, shame, shame on you,” Gololo said.

He called on President Tinubu to urgently intervene in the situation, investigate the allegations surrounding the management of Abuja’s land, green areas, waterways and contracts, and remove Wike if the allegations are established.

According to Gololo, the minister’s actions are worsening the suffering of Abuja residents.

He urged the Federal Government to prioritise the protection of the Abuja Master Plan, drainage channels, green areas and waterways.

“Mr. President, please sack Wike. Wike is not working,” he reiterated.

He also warned Wike that continued targeting of political opponents and perceived enemies could eventually have consequences.

“Wike, this minister, you will end up one day… Nothing will make you not go to Kuje (Prison). Nothing. The way you are destroying people outside,” Gololo said.
