The University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Exploration and Production (E&P) Limited have initiated discussions aimed at establishing a strategic partnership to enhance healthcare delivery for corporate employees and residents of the South-South region.
This development emerged on Tuesday when the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, paid a courtesy visit to the management of NNPC E&P in Benin City, Edo State.
Speaking during the visit, Prof. Ize-Iyamu underscored the hospital’s capacity and commitment to providing timely, specialized and patient-centred healthcare services to corporate organizations and their workforce.
The CMD highlighted the institution’s achievements and milestones over the years, noting that UBTH has continued to position itself as a leading tertiary healthcare provider through improved medical services, cutting-edge facilities and a highly skilled workforce.
She said the visit was part of efforts to explore areas of mutual collaboration that would further strengthen quality healthcare delivery and improve access to specialized medical services.
According to Prof Ize-Iyamu, partnerships between healthcare institutions and corporate organizations remain critical to achieving sustainable healthcare outcomes and ensuring that workers enjoy access to efficient and reliable medical care.
Prof. Ize-Iyamu further assured the NNPC management of UBTH’s readiness to provide world-class healthcare services and support initiatives geared towards promoting the health and wellbeing of employees.
Responding, the Executive Director, Business Services, NNPC Exploration and Production Limited, Mr. Tosin Olakiigbe, expressed appreciation to the UBTH management for the visit and commended the hospital’s proactive approach towards building strategic healthcare partnerships.
Olakiigbe noted that collaboration between both organizations would create opportunities for improved healthcare access and quality medical support for employees and other stakeholders.
