Oyo Pupils Abduction: NBM Of Africa Declares 7-day Global Fasting, Prayer For Victims, National Security

Concerned by the worsening state of insecurity across the country, foremost Pan-African and humanitarian Organisation, NBM of Africa Worldwide, has declared a seven-day fasting and prayer programme for the safe release of more than 45 pupils and teachers reportedly abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The declaration was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Worldwide President of the movement, Dr. Charles Chimezie (Ph.D), who expressed deep concern over the increasing cases of kidnapping, violent crimes and attacks on innocent citizens in various parts of the country.

According to the statement, the seven-day fasting and prayer programme will be observed by members of the organisation across the globe as a demonstration of solidarity with the affected families and communities, as well as a call for divine intervention in the affairs of the nation.

It would be recalled that the victims were abducted on Friday, May 15, 2026, at about 9:30 a.m., following coordinated attacks by armed men on Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; Community Grammar School, Esiele; and L.A. Primary School, Esiele, all in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Dr. Chimezie described the reported abduction of the pupils and their teachers as a painful and disturbing development that underscores the urgent need for concerted efforts by all stakeholders to address the nation’s security challenges.

The NBM of Africa Worldwide President noted that the safety and well-being of children remain a collective responsibility and urged security agencies to intensify efforts to secure the immediate rescue of the victims and ensure that the perpetrators of such heinous crime are brought to justice.

“We respectfully call on the Federal Government of Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services and other relevant security agencies to intensify coordinated efforts toward the swift and safe rescue of the victims.

“We commend the continuous commitment of our security personnel and urge sustained inter-agency collaboration, lawful deployment of intelligence and decisive action to ensure a peaceful resolution.

“We further appeal for public restraint, credible information sharing and collective prayers as we stand in solidarity with the affected families,” the statement stated.

Dr. Chimezie explained that the fasting and prayer programme would mobilise members of the organisation worldwide to seek divine intervention in the nation’s security challenges and other socio-economic difficulties confronting Nigerians.

He stressed that beyond the challenge of insecurity, Nigeria is also grappling with poverty, hardship, unemployment and other socio-economic difficulties that continue to place enormous pressure on citizens.

The NBM of Africa Worldwide President said the spiritual exercise was designed not only to seek the release of the abducted victims but also to pray for peace, stability, economic recovery and national development, while calling on Nigerians, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political affiliations, to unite in the collective pursuit of peace and security.

The organisation reaffirmed its commitment to promoting peace, social justice, youth empowerment and community development across Africa, adding that it would continue to support initiatives aimed at fostering a safer and more prosperous society.

It also urged members of the movement in different countries to participate actively in the fasting and prayer exercise while extending support and encouragement to families affected by insecurity and other humanitarian challenges.

NBM of Africa Worldwide expressed optimism that through collective prayers, responsible leadership and strengthened security measures, Nigeria would overcome its current challenges and emerge stronger, more united and more prosperous.
