Traditional Institutions Key To Peace, Security – Air Chief

The Chief of Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, says traditional institutions are key to peace building and security in the country.

He said this on Wednesday while paying homage to the Emir of Bauchi, Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu.

Aneke highlighted that traditional rulers play a vital role in ensuring peace and security in the country.

“Traditional rulers remain indispensable partners in building peace, and security in Nigeria.

“We appreciate your contributions to peace and security.

“The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) holds you in high regard as a symbol of peace and security in the country,” he said.

Aneke said the service strives to safeguard its mandate through the promotion of good working relations and deepen engagement with the Bauchi Emirate Council.

He underscores the importance of collaborative efforts and interventions aimed at strengthening NAF’s capabilities and improve personnel welfare, to enhance security in the country.

While reiterating the NAF’s commitment to effective civil-military relations, Aneke urged the emir to sensitise his subjects on the need to support and cooperate with security agencies.

Responding, Adamu lauded Aneke and the service for its commitment to peace and security.

He said the Air Special Operation Base was critical in responding to the needs of the communities and strengthened relationships.

“You contributed to peace building and many paid sacrifices.

“Security is simple but it requires intelligence. No meaningful development could be achieved without peace,” he said.

The royal father pledged to mobilise his subjects to support security agencies to enable them to discharge their duties effectively.

Highlights of the visit include presentation of gifts to the emir by the air chief.
