According to an internal police wireless communication dated March 10, 2026 and obtained by SaharaReporters, the Force has assigned officers to key departments, namely the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and the Department of Logistics and Supply (DLS).
The Nigeria Police Force has announced the posting of senior officers to different positions in the Force, following orders issued by the Force Headquarters in Abuja.According to an internal police wireless communication dated March 10, 2026 and obtained by SaharaReporters, the Force has assigned officers to key departments, namely the Force Intelligence Department (FID) and the Department of Logistics and Supply (DLS).
The message, marked as “Most Immediate,” instructed all relevant commands, divisions, and units nationwide to update their records with the new postings.
Specifically, the communication confirmed that DIG Zachariah Fera Achinyan has been posted to the Force Intelligence Department (DIG FID) in Abuja, while DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, has been assigned to the Department of Logistics and Supply (DIG DLS) at Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The directive was issued by the Office of the Force Secretary, Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force, and communicated through the Police Force’s Establishment and Computer Units to ensure records are promptly updated.
On Wednesday evening, SaharaReporters reported that the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, had redeployed DIG Onwuemelie to the Logistics and Supply department.
SaharaReporters reported that Onwuemelie, who was initially posted to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID) in Abuja, had now been replaced by DIG Achinyan, previously assigned to the DLS.
SaharaReporters gathered that Onwuemelie’s redeployment followed complaints about his human rights record. He had earlier served as aide-de-camp to former Senate President Chuba Okadigbo.
In August 2000, Okadigbo was impeached as Senate President after a parliamentary inquiry into contract awards.
A Senate committee accused him of inflating contracts, overspending on official home furnishings, accepting $200,000 as a Christmas “welfare gift,” and acquiring eight unauthorised vehicles, which increased his official fleet to 32. The Senate voted 81–14 to remove him after he refused to resign despite an earlier resolution demanding his exit.
“The reshuffling was a sudden change based on complaints of DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie’s poor human rights record,” a top police source told SaharaReporters on Wednesday evening.
“He used to be ADC to Chuba Okadigbo while Emeka Ihedioha was the Personal Assistant. He is known to be a politician.”
On Monday, SaharaReporters reported that IGP Disu had directed the initial posting of several senior officers to strategic positions within Force Headquarters and federal departments in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to an internal wireless message from the Force Secretary, the postings affected senior officers across multiple directorates and specialised units.
The initial assignments included: DIG Achinyan – DLS, FHQ Abuja; DIG Zango Ibrahim Baba – Department of Research & Planning (R&P), FHQ Abuja; DIG Isyaku Mohammed – Department of Training and Development (DTD), FHQ Abuja; and DIG Margaret Ochalla – Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja
Others were DIG Mohammed Sulaiman – Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), FHQ Abuja; DIG Onwuemelie – Force Intelligence Department (FID), Abuja; DIG Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha – Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), FHQ Abuja and DIG Umar Shehu Nadada – Department of Operations (DOPS), FHQ Abuja.
