According to the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect and is aimed at strengthening citizens’ engagement with government policies and programmes across the state.
Mrs. Johnson-Okojie, one of Nollywood’s most celebrated figures, is an accomplished actress, producer, entrepreneur and philanthropist, with a career spanning nearly two decades.
She has featured in over 200 films and has earned several awards and nominations, including recognition at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards and other prestigious platforms.
Beyond her contributions to the entertainment industry, she is widely known for her humanitarian and advocacy efforts through the Mercy Johnson-Okojie Foundation, where she has championed initiatives in women empowerment, child welfare, education support and healthcare outreach.
In her new role, the actress is expected to leverage her wide public appeal, communication expertise and grassroots reach to promote civic awareness, enhance public participation and serve as a bridge between the government and the people.
The state government noted that the appointment underscores Governor Okpebholo’s commitment to harnessing the expertise, credibility and goodwill of distinguished Nigerians in driving the vision of a prosperous and united Edo State.
The statement added that the administration remains focused on inclusive governance and effective communication as key pillars for sustainable development in the state.
