Tragic Tanker Fire Incident: Okpebhole Sympathizes With Otaru Of Auchi, Others

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker fire incident that occurred on Wednesday night in Auchi, Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.

The incident followed the fall of a petroleum tanker, which triggered a massive fire outbreak and explosions that engulfed several vehicles and affected different parts of the town.

In a press statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary Dr. Patrick Ebojele, Governor Okpebholo described the occurrence as painful and unfortunate. He said the incident has brought grief, fear and distress to families, motorists and residents of Auchi and its environs.

“On behalf of the government and people of Edo State, the governor commiserated with the Otaru of Auchi, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Aliru H. Momoh Ikelebe III, and the entire Auchi Sacred Kingdom over the tragic development.

“This unfortunate incident is a painful reminder of the dangers associated with the transportation of petroleum products on our highways. Our thoughts and prayers are with the people of Auchi Sacred Kingdom at this very difficult time”, the statement said.

Governor Okpebholo extended his heartfelt sympathies to individuals and families who suffered losses, including those whose vehicles and other valuables were destroyed in the inferno.

He also prayed for the repose of the souls of those who may have lost their lives and wished those injured in the incident a quick and full recovery.

The governor assured residents that the Edo State Government is working closely with relevant emergency and safety agencies to fully assess the situation and provide support to affected victims.

He further disclosed that measures are being put in place to prevent a recurrence of such incidents across the state, particularly along major highways used by fuel tankers.

Governor Okpebholo urged motorists and tanker drivers to strictly adhere to safety regulations and traffic laws, stressing that safety consciousness remains key to protecting lives and property.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the safety and wellbeing of Edo people and called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as investigations continue.
