Edo State Police Command has arrested a man for allegedly beating his 15-year-old son to death and secretly burying the body within their family compound at Uhe Community, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, Nigeria.

According to police reports, the incident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, when the 45-year-old suspect allegedly assaulted the teenager with a stick, leading to his death.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Edo State Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Although the identities of the suspect and the deceased were not disclosed, the police revealed that the suspect allegedly dug a grave in his family compound and buried the corpse to conceal the crime.

ASP Ikoedem stated that credible intelligence provided by the victim’s mother and grandmother led to the suspect’s arrest.

She said the grandmother, an 82-year-old woman and the suspect’s mother, live in the same household.

“The suspect further dug a grave within the compound and buried the corpse. The deceased’s grandmother, as well as the suspect’s mother, an 82-year-old woman who resides in the same house, provided useful information to the Police.

“Following due administrative procedures, the grave was exhumed, photographs were taken, and the stick allegedly used in committing the offence was recovered as an exhibit. The suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody, while investigation is ongoing,” the statement said.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of police inquiries.
