BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering quality education, with the Office of the First Lady pledging continued support for initiatives that strengthen the school system.
Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Edesili Okpebholo Anani, gave the assurance at a two-day training organised by the Senior Secondary Education Board (SSEB) at the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Academy, themed, “Repositioning SSEB for Effective Service Delivery Through Teamwork, Technology and Transformation.
Mrs. Anani praised the initiative, stressing that teamwork and technology were critical to repositioning the sector.
She highlighted the need for inclusive education, particularly for children with autism, citing the case of 15-year-old Kanyeyachukwu Tagbo-Okeke, who broke the Guinness World Record for painting the largest canvas despite his condition.
Commissioner for Education, Dr. Emmanuel Paddy Iyamu, underscored the importance of teamwork and technology in advancing educational goals.
He said collaboration, rather than competition was needed to deliver quality learning, stressing that “teamwork makes the dream work.”
He encouraged teachers and administrators to embrace transformation and self-development through technology-driven skills to impact children positively.
The programme brought together senior government officials, education stakeholders, and staff of the SSEB to align strategies for improving service delivery in the state’s education sector.
