Suspected Armed Robbers Invade Two Apartments In Ekiadolor, Kill Vigilante Guard, Steal Lexus

Edo State Police Command has reported that a 32-year-old vigilante guard, Edos Ojo, was killed while pursuing a gang of suspected armed robbers who allegedly broke into two apartments in Ekiadolor and stole a Lexus ES 350 saloon car.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Patrick Daaor, disclosed this to journalists in Benin City on Tuesday.

According to him, the incident occurred at about 1 a.m. on August 26, 2026, when four armed men broke into the apartments of Amaosa Happy and his neighbour, Osakpolor Abifade. The suspects allegedly stole four mobile phones, two power banks and a JBL speaker.

CP Daaor said the suspects also took Happy’s Lexus ES 350 saloon car, with registration number BEN 05 CE.
The commissioner said two vigilante guards, Ojo and Ben Omodjevwe, 32, pursued the suspects on a motorcycle after the robbery.

 

He added that, while attempting to escape in the stolen Lexus, the suspects rammed the vehicle into the motorcycle carrying the two vigilante guards.

The police commissioner said Ojo sustained internal injuries and was rushed to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital, UBTH, where he was later pronounced dead. Omodjevwe sustained minor injuries.

Following the incident, the police tracked and arrested one of the suspects, identified as Bassey Henry, at about 4 a.m. along 2nd Power Line.

He stated that Ojo’s remains were deposited at the UBTH mortuary, while investigations continued to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen property.
