NBM Ikoyi Reaches Out To, Puts Smiles On Faces Of Children, Other 1,120 Needy In Lagos

…Donates N1m, food items to Modupe Cole Child Care and Treatment Home

For the children and caregivers at the Modupe Cole Child Care and Treatment Home in Lagos, Saturday, August 15, 2026, was more than an ordinary day. It was a day when strangers arrived with food, financial assistance and, most importantly, a message that they had not been forgotten.

The gesture, made by the Ikoyi Zone of the NBM of Africa, saw a substantial donation to the home before extending its humanitarian intervention to the wider Orile, Ajegunle community, where 1,120 food relief packs were distributed to less privileged residents.

At the Modupe Cole Centre, the Ikoyi Zone donated 50 bags of rice, 30 bags of spaghetti, 50 crates of eggs, 50 cartons of Indomie noodles and a gallon of King’s vegetable oil.

The group also presented a donation of N1 million in cash to support the center’s operations and the care of children and other vulnerable people under its responsibility.

The intervention, according to the organizers, was made possible through the contributions and commitment of members of the Ikoyi Zone, who resolved to translate their concern for humanity into practical assistance for people facing difficult circumstances.

But the humanitarian mission did not end at the center. After the visit, the team moved to Orile, Ajegunle, where it embarked on a wider community outreach aimed at putting food on the tables of residents who needed help.

For the community intervention, the zone procured 75 bags of rice, 56 bags of spaghetti and 94 cartons of Power Oil, which were packaged into relief packs and distributed directly to residents.

In all, 1,120 individual food relief packages were handed out to less privileged members of the community, turning what could have been another difficult day for many families into one marked by relief, dignity and hope.

The Ikoyi Zone described the outreach as a demonstration of the organization’s commitment to humanity, expressing gratitude to its members worldwide for their generosity and support.

The gesture also underscored the power of collective giving, as contributions from members were transformed into food for vulnerable families and support for children in need of care.

As the last relief packages were handed out in Orile, the message from the organizers was simple: humanity is best served not merely by words, but by reaching out to those in need. For the beneficiaries, the rice, food items and financial support may have been material things, but the kindness behind them offered something equally important — the assurance that someone still cared.
