Hackers Access Zenith Bank Customers’ Email Addresses, Phone Numbers; Bank Investigates Cyber Incident

 

According to the bank, it activated its incident response protocols and implemented cybersecurity measures immediately after discovering the breach.

Zenith Bank has informed its customers that it is investigating an incident involving unauthorised access to limited customer information, including email addresses and phone numbers, assuring them that its banking services and digital channels remain secure and fully operational.

In a notice sent to customers on Tuesday, the bank said the incident was part of a broader global cyberattack targeting multiple international organisations across various sectors.

According to the bank, it activated its incident response protocols and implemented cybersecurity measures immediately after discovering the breach.

“Zenith Bank is investigating unauthorised access to limited customer information including email addresses and phone numbers. This incident is part of a broader, global cyber-attack targeting multiple international organizations across various sectors,” the notice read.

“Upon discovery, we promptly activated our incident response protocols, cybersecurity actions and remediation efforts.”

The bank reassured customers that its core banking operations had not been compromised.

“Our banking services and digital channels remain secure and fully operational,” it said.

As a precaution, Zenith Bank advised customers to be vigilant against phishing attempts, including fraudulent emails, text messages and phone calls.

It also warned customers never to disclose sensitive security information such as passwords, Personal Identification Numbers (PINs), One-Time Passwords (OTPs) or other security credentials to anyone.

The bank reaffirmed its commitment to protecting customers’ information and thanked them for their continued trust and confidence

It urged customers with enquiries to contact Zenith Direct through its customer service channels.
