Nigeria Has Turned Economic Corner, Says Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday declared that Nigeria has emerged from its most difficult economic phase, saying his administration’s sweeping reforms are earning global recognition and restoring investor confidence in the country.

The President said the growing interest by multinational companies and international partners in Nigeria was a direct result of ongoing reforms and the collective efforts of Nigerians working to reposition the economy.

Tinubu spoke at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while receiving a delegation of Aseyori Tinubu, a research group, led by Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim.

He assured Nigerians that the full benefits of the reforms would become more evident in the coming months as the government consolidates economic stability and drives sustained growth.

“I can confidently say that our economy has passed through the darkest tunnel. Democracy comes with twists and turns, but we will continue to improve. The economic recovery is here, and we are running a very stable economy,” the President said.

Highlighting key achievements of his administration, Tinubu disclosed that the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) had received additional funding from assets recovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), further strengthening access to higher education.

According to him, Nigeria’s production capacity is improving, while deliberate efforts are being made to stimulate economic expansion.

“We have a production line going on well; we just need to stimulate the economy for growth. We can proudly say there are no more ASUU strikes. Today, our children are in school, and security is getting better, not worse,” he added.

The President also commended Ambassador Ibrahim for what he described as an outstanding performance at the United Nations, urging him to remain focused on advancing Nigeria’s interests on the global stage.

“Your capacity is exceedingly reliable, and your performance at the United Nations has been very impressive. You have achieved so much within a short period, and I am proud of you.

“This is a defining moment in our history. Continue to work harder, particularly towards securing a permanent seat for Nigeria on the United Nations Security Council,” Tinubu said.

He further encouraged the research group to continue generating policy ideas and research capable of strengthening Nigeria politically, economically and diplomatically.

Earlier, Ambassador Ibrahim said the Tinubu administration’s economic reforms had significantly enhanced Nigeria’s international image, attracting renewed interest from foreign investors across strategic sectors.

He credited his accomplishments at the United Nations to the President’s support and pledged to intensify diplomatic efforts towards securing Nigeria a permanent seat on the UN Security Council.

According to him, the administration’s reform agenda has repositioned Nigeria as a credible destination for global partnerships and investment, while boosting the country’s standing in the international community.
