Prof. Eric Eboh, the new Vice Chancellor of University of Delta State (UNIDEL) has laid out an ambitious vision anchored on what he branded “Project RAISE UNIDEL.”
Prof Eboh unveiled his vision at the maiden meeting he had at UNIDEL Council Chamber on Thursday, April 30 with key stakeholders, including Academic Staff Union of Universities, Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, National Association of Academic Technicians, and the Students Union Government of the Ivory Tower.
He said that Project RAISE UNIDEL was more than a slogan, but a strategic blueprint built on five pillars: Research and Innovation; Academic Excellence; ICT-driven transformation; Staff development and welfare; and a conducive Environment for all stakeholders.
His message was clear: the workforce remains the institution’s greatest asset.
“I will work with ASUU and raise UNIDEL to higher heights. I seek your cooperation,” Prof. Eboh declared. “We must sustain the solid foundation I met on the ground. With teamwork, consultation, and collective interest, we will drive growth and development.”

The response from ASUU was supportive. Branch Chairman, Dr. Amaechi Ehimetie, pledged continuity in the union’s relationship with Management. “We are very constructive,” he said. “We will always bend backwards to ensure that the system works without any hitches.”
That tone of cooperation echoed across other unions.
From SSANU, Chairman Comrade Chuks Aselue, “We are going to take you by your words, and cooperate with you.” NASU Chairman Comrade Joel Ikwu also committed to working with the new administration “to the best of our abilities.”
Engaging the technical workforce, Prof. Eboh underscored inclusivity: “I have come here to work with your group and as individuals.” NAAT Chairman Comrade Kate Maduka responded succinctly: “As a union, we assure you of our cooperation.”

But it was his interaction with students that struck a more personal chord.
Positioning himself as “a father, uncle and a friend,” Prof. Eboh promised a student-centered administration, focused on producing “job-ready” graduates equipped for a competitive global market.
He pledged to bring professionals into the university space, deepen career exposure, and ensure that UNIDEL graduates “stand out anywhere in the world.”
“Discipline is the bedrock of character,” he told student leaders. “You must be disciplined too.”
In response, SUG President Mr Miracle affirmed the students’ readiness to align with the Vice-Chancellor’s vision and uphold strong values.

The symbolic high point of the meeting came when the students presented a souvenir to Prof. Eboh, a gesture underscoring both acceptance and expectation.
The gathering drew a cross-section of the university’s top brass, including Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Patrick Ijeh; Registrar, Barr. Richmond Omagbemi; Bursar, Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu; University Librarian, Dr. Vera Okonoko; Registrar-designate Dr. Esther Akporjuvie; and Dean of Student Advisory Services, Dr. Rufus Ijeh; SDR, Mrs. Blessing Idoye; alongside other senior administrators.
