Abuja: Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, says President Bola Tinubu is committed to making life better for FCT residents through delivery of life-changing infrastructure projects in Abuja and satellite towns.
Wike stated this while addressing residents during a project inspection in Abuja on Wednesday, urging sustained prayers and support for Tinubu.
He assured residents living along the Kubwa to Bwari road corridor under construction that Tinubu would ensure completion of all ongoing road projects, especially in satellite towns.
The minister expressed confidence that the ongoing interventions would further enhance economic growth and improve living standards across the FCT.
He urged the residents to continue supporting and praying for Tinubu.
Wike highlighted several ongoing road projects inspected in Karu, Apo to Kashi road, and Bwari to Kubwa road, including major road corridors stretching over 30 kilometres, stressing that Tinubu would do more.
According to him, many affected communities were experiencing such development for the first time.
The massive infrastructural development and visible impact on residents’ lives had won the hearts of the electorates.
“The transformation under this administration has earned the people’s trust,” he said.
Wike explained that the focus is on extending development beyond the city centre to rural and satellite communities.
“We’re deliberately extending development to rural and satellite areas. These communities are part of Abuja, and their lives must also change,” he said.
Wike expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing projects, saying residents’ reactions reflect the positive impact of the government’s interventions.
When concerns about real estate developers in the FCT arose, Wike dismissed calls for a new regulatory agency, insisting that existing institutions suffice.
“The problem in Nigeria is the proliferation of agencies. Creating more agencies won’t solve the problem,” he said.
He added that the Department of Development Control already regulates physical planning and ensures compliance with the Abuja Master Plan.
“What is important is to strengthen existing structures. The FCT Administration will address complaints and protect citizens from exploitation,” he said.
Wike assured residents that the administration will continue to act on reported malpractice cases, including ensuring refunds where necessary.
He urged unity and support for the Tinubu administration, noting that national development requires collective effort.
“This is a period for everyone to work together and support the government. The focus is on improving Nigeria, particularly in security,” he said.
