Defence Minister Charges Service Chiefs On Implementation Of Strategy Against Terrorism

The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, has tasked the Chief of Defence Staff and Service Chiefs to intensify the implementation of practical and result-oriented strategies to decisively tackle terrorism and other security threats across the country.

Musa gave the directive on Wednesday, while presiding over the maiden Monthly Operational Briefing at the Ministry of Defence in Abuja.

This is contained in a statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Minister, retired Col. Timothy Antigha, on Wednesday in Abuja.

Musa emphasised the need for coordinated operations, innovation and sustained pressure on criminal elements, noting that the evolving security landscape requires adaptive and implementable approaches.

He commended the professionalism, resilience and gallantry of troops in ongoing operations nationwide and reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to prioritising troop welfare and enhancing the operational efficiency of the Armed Forces.

The minister also reassured Nigerians that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain fully in charge of all military operations within the country, explaining that the presence of the United States Africa Command in Nigeria is strictly for training and advisory support.

He emphasised that the monthly operational briefing would serve as a strategic platform for reviewing ongoing operations and strengthening synergy among the Armed Services. (NAN)
