APC Harps On Party Structures, Sustained Electoral Victories As It Inaugurates Edo EXCO, Ahead Of 2027

Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday inaugurated its State Executive Council, charging members to strengthen the party’s structures and sustain electoral victories ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration held at the party secretariat in Benin City, the state chairman of the APC, Jarrett Tenebe, said the newly inaugurated executives would serve as the driving force of the party for the next four years.

The State Chairman of APC noted that the inauguration followed the unanimous election of the executives during the recently concluded party congresses across the state.

He said the exercise was in line with the democratic ideals entrenched in the constitution and tradition of the party.

The APC chairman described the members of the executive council as individuals of proven integrity who had distinguished themselves in various capacities in the service and development of the party.

He expressed confidence that the new executives would help strengthen the party and advance the cause of progressive governance in Edo State.

Emperor Tenebe also said the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo remained anchored on the SHINE Agenda, which he described as the ideological foundation guiding governance in the state.

“As a party, we are fully committed to demonstrating the values that define us which are unity, cohesion, inclusivity and, above all, internal party democracy,” he said.

The chairman said the party had recently witnessed what he described as a “political tsunami,” following the defection of members from other political parties into the APC across the state.

He urged the newly inaugurated executives to remain committed to the people and justify the confidence reposed in them.

Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Tenebe said the party was determined to remain united and committed to its constitutional principles.

He added that the Edo APC was aligning its programmes with the policies of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while supporting the development agenda of Governor Monday Okpebholo.

Tenebe said the state had set a target of delivering 2.5 million votes for the President in the next general election, expressing optimism that the party would surpass the figure.

He commended party members for their support and peaceful conduct during the ward, local government and state congresses that produced the new executive council.

The chairman also assured that the party would continue to work closely with the grassroots, particularly youths and women, noting that the women’s wing of the party would be strengthened to enhance mobilisation ahead of future elections.

Emperor Jarrete further thanked members of the media for their support, describing the press as a vital partner in promoting democratic values and informing the public about the activities of the party.
