Suspected Armed Thugs Attack ADC Supporters In Benin, Three Injured

Suspected armed thugs on Tuesday attacked supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) at the party’s secretariat in Benin City, Edo State, injuring three persons.

The supporters had converged on the secretariat to receive the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, Olumide Akpata, his running mate, Yusuf Asama Kadiri (SAN), and other defectors into the ADC.

The attack reportedly occurred shortly after party leaders—including former national APC chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, Edo State ADC Chairman Kennedy Odion, former governor Oserhiemen Osunbor, ex-senator Roland Owie, and former presidential candidate Peter Obi—had departed the venue for Oyegun’s residence.

According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums later stormed Oyegun’s residence, located near the Edo State Government House, where they allegedly fired sporadically and vandalized vehicles parked within the premises.
