One person severely injured, while 15 others escaped unhurt in a road accident on Osogbo–Gbongan Expressway on Friday.

The Osun Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Mr Adegboyega Leye, made this known in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Mrs. Agnes Ogungbemi, in Osogbo.

Leye said the accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday Gbongan-Ode Omu Grammar School axis.

He explained that the accident involved a white commercial bus which had a burst tyre and lost control due to excessive speed.

According to the statement, a total of 16 passengers were involved in the accident with only one sustaining severe injuries, while the remaining 15 passengers were not hurt.

“The injured victim was taken to an undisclosed hospital in Gbongan for medical attention while the vehicle was confiscated by the FRSC rescue team,” the sector commander said.

Leye warned motorists to refrain from speeding, noting that it often results in loss of lives and property on highways.
