Kanu was moved from the Department of State Services (DSS) detention facility in Abuja less than 24 hours after he was handed a life sentence by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court.
The judge had convicted him on multiple counts of terrorism after several years of trial.
Ejimakor, in a post shared on X on Friday, confirmed the development, stating that the relocation would further distance Kanu from his legal team and family members.
“MAZI NNAMDI KANU has just been moved from DSS Abuja to the correctional facility (prison) in Sokoto; so far away from his lawyers, family, loved ones and well-wishers,” he wrote.
In another tweet, Ejimakor questioned the wisdom behind the transfer of the IPOB leader to Sokoto.
He tweeted: “While urging #Ndigbo to remain calm, I must question the wisdom of sending #MNK to Sokoto prison. When Awolowo was convicted in 1963, he was sent to the East, a neutral zone in his feud with the North. Pres. Tinubu can still halt this drift, as I said in this video.”
