Tobi Amusan Storms Into 100m Hurdles Final At World Championship

Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan powered into the women’s 100m hurdles final at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Monday.

She produced a commanding semifinal win in 12.36 seconds (-0.2 m/s).

The world record holder finished ahead of the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser (12.45 s) and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska (12.51s) to book her berth in the showpiece.

Amusan, who set the world record of 12.12s at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, looked in control from the start, running smoothly between the barriers and closing strongly to lead her semi.

The 27-year-old’s performance has heightened expectations as she targets a return to the top of the podium in the final.
