BENIN CITY – Edo State Commissioner for Information and Communication, Hon. Paul Ohonbamu, has described Governor Monday Okpebholo as a law-abiding leader committed to due process and respect for rule of law.
Briefing journalists after a recent Executive Council meeting in Benin City, Ohonbamu said the Council’s decision to approve the sum of ₦914 million for the rebuilding of a hotel owned by Tony Kabaka, which was demolished by the previous administration, was in line with a subsisting court judgment.
“The EXCO approved the sum of ₦914 million that the Court asked to be paid to Tony Kabaka for the rebuilding of his destroyed hotel. We have a leader who is law abiding and will not infringe on anybody’s rights. The decisions of Courts, lower and even Court of Appeal, are to be obeyed,” Ohonbamu said.
He added that the development was a signal to the judiciary that the present administration under Okpebholo is committed to respecting judicial pronouncements.
The Commissioner also disclosed that the Council, presided over by the Governor, approved the procurement of 50 additional brand-new buses to complement the 100 earlier acquired for the new Edo Line Company, as well as Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses for the Edo City Transport Service.
On agriculture and food security, he said that the Council approved the procurement of five bulldozers and one low-bed truck to eliminate dependence on hired equipment by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
