A ghastly road accident on Tuesday claimed the lives of four persons along Benin-Lagos Expressway in Edo State, Nigeria, just as eight others reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.
The accident reportedly occurred at the Ovia bridge axis of the Road in Ovia North-East Local Government Area in the State
Alltimepost.com gathered that a truck heading towards Benin from Lagos State allegedly lost control and rammed into five other vehicles on the road, killing three persons on the spot.
The Edo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Cyril Mathew, confirmed the incident.
He said the accident involved five vehicles including a truck, two Siena bus, a space bus and a mini truck.
He said 19 passengers were involved in the accident including four female adults, 14 male adults and one male child.

He said three persons who were trapped in their vehicles died on the spot while one other died on reaching the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), bring the total death to four.
Mathew, however, attributed the accident to speed and loss of concentration.
He advised motorists to always put their vehicles in order, maintain the regulated speed limit and be wary of road conditions.
