Israel Said It Agreed To Ceasefire After “tremendous Success” In Iran

Israel said it agreed to US President Donald Trump’s ceasefire proposal following its military successes in Iran, in a statement on behalf of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.

The statement – Israel’s first official comments about the ceasefire – said Israel had achieved all of its objectives “and far beyond” after nearly two weeks of strikes on Iran.

“Israel has eliminated an immediate and dual existential threat — both in the nuclear domain and in the realm of ballistic missiles,” the statement said.

“Additionally, the IDF has achieved full aerial control over Tehran’s skies, dealt a severe blow to the Iranian military leadership, and destroyed dozens of key regime targets in Iran.”

Israel thanked Trump and the US for its military support “in eliminating the Iranian nuclear threat.”

“Israel will respond forcefully to any violation of the ceasefire,” the statement warned.

Israeli hostage families call for expansion of Israel-Iran ceasefire to include Gaza

A group advocating for the return of hostages held in Gaza has called for the ceasefire between Israel and Iran to be expanded to include the war-torn enclave.

“Those who can achieve a ceasefire with Iran can also end the war in Gaza,” the Hostages and Missing Families Forum said in a statement Tuesday.

The forum said the ceasefire “must expand to include Gaza” and called on the government “to engage in urgent negotiations that will bring home all the hostages and end the war.”

“After 12 days and nights during which the people of Israel could not sleep because of Iran, we can finally go back to not sleeping because of the hostages,” the forum said.

There are 50 hostages being held in captivity by the Iranian-backed militant group Hamas. Twenty are believed to still be alive, according to the Israeli government.

“To conclude this decisive operation against Iran without leveraging our success to bring home all the hostages would be a grave failure,” the forum added, calling it a “critical window of opportunity.”

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid echoed those sentiments, writing in a post on X: “And now Gaza. This is the moment to close that front as well. To bring the hostages home, to end the war. Israel needs to start rebuilding.”
