The Liberal Progressive and Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC) has extended its heartfelt congratulations to Comrade Festus Osifo following his re-election as President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), describing the development as a recognition of his outstanding leadership and longstanding commitment to the welfare of Nigerian workers.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Dr Kingsley Okundaye, the LPPMC praised Osifo’s dedication to labour advocacy, calling his renewed mandate a reward for decades of steadfast service and visionary leadership within Nigeria’s labour movement.
“On behalf of the Liberal Progressive and Patriotic Members Congress (LPPMC), I extend our warmest congratulations to you on your well-deserved re-election,” Dr Okundaye stated.
“Your elevation is a clear reflection of your proven dedication to advancing the rights and welfare of Nigerian workers.”
Highlighting Osifo’s previous tenure as President of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Okundaye noted that his leadership was marked by successful negotiations for improved working conditions and strategic advocacy for stability and fairness in the energy sector.
He further described Osifo as a pragmatic leader whose balanced approach to unionism—combining strong advocacy with dialogue—has earned him respect from labour, government, and civil society alike. The LPPMC particularly commended his efforts to promote cooperation among unions, employers, and policymakers, especially on sensitive national issues such as fuel subsidy reforms and economic justice.
“As you take on this renewed responsibility, LPPMC assures you of our continued support,” the statement continued. “We share your vision for social justice, inclusive governance, and better living standards. We are committed to working alongside the TUC in pushing for fair labour policies, empowering workers, and ensuring that the voices of the marginalised are heard.”
The group expressed confidence that Osifo’s leadership would usher in a new era of progress for the Nigerian workforce, reaffirming its readiness to partner with the TUC in initiatives that strengthen accountability, promote worker solidarity, and drive meaningful reform.
“Once again, congratulations, Comrade Osifo, on this remarkable achievement. May your tenure be marked by transformative milestones and strengthened unity across the labour movement,” the statement concluded.
