Ex Edo Police Boss Bags PCRC Excellent Leadership Award

Edo State Branch of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), has honored the state immediate past commissioner of Police, CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, with Excellent Leadership Award.

Recall that CP Otimenyin who was recently posted to Edo State is the 49th Commissioner of Police and the first female Commissioner of Police in the state.

Presenting the prestigious award to the police boss in Benin, the Diaspora Patron of PCRC, Dr Osagie Igbinosun, said the award was in recognition of her role in the protection of life and property in the country.

He asserted that the Otimenyin made history by becoming the first Benin female Commissioner of Police in Edo State and displayed exemplary leadership in her security profession.

Dr. Igbinosun, who resides in Chicago, USA, said the younger generation, especially the girl-child will look up to the police boss and emulate her.

The PCRC Diaspora Patron congratulated the immediate past Commissioner for making history as the first Benin woman to occupy the exotic position and urged her to continue with her good job.

“The Edo indigenes in Diaspora, both in USA, Canada and Worldwide, present this Excellent Leadership Award to CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, immediate past Edo State Commissioner of Police, in recognition of your exemplary leadership as the first female Commissioner of Police in Edo State.

“Your great contributions to the security of lives and property in Edo State and Nigeria at large. May God bless you and protect you.

Responding, former CP Betty Enekpen Isokpan Otimenyin, appreciated the PCRC and the Diaspora Patron, Dr. Osagie Igbinosun, for the honor, advising parents not to discriminate against the girl child.

“I am very happy and proud of the award. I am proud to be a girl child and I am proud to be from Edo State. I am to be a woman officer. You made me proud.

“These days, God is using us to create history. It is not the sex in a child that matter but the brain.

“How your develop your brain, how you work and how committed you are that makes the difference. How you spend your time and your focus.

“So, today, I am happy because I know that people appreciate me and when you know that people appreciate, look and recognize you, it is a thing of joy”, she said

Dr. Osagie Igbinosun was accompanied on the visit to the police headquarters by a member of the PCRC, Pastor Ken Okungbowa.
