Edo: Police Arrest 32-year-old Woman With Firearms, Others

Edo State Police Command have confirmed the arrest of a 32-year-old woman, identified simply as Janet Dominic, with five firearms and ammunition.

Moses Yamu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state Command, who confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, said it was a result of the mop up of arms operation in the state.

He said the arms and ammunition were concealed inside the seat of a motorcycle.

According to him, the suspect was arrested on April 10, 2025, by the command X squad during a raid at the Iguezemwahu community, along Benin-Auchi Road, in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of the State.

Yamu said said one other suspect escaped from the scene on sighting the Police.

He explained that two single-barrel guns, three Pistols, seven live cartridges, one dagger, one trigger part and one Beretta magazine were recovered from the suspect, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspect.
