Man Kills Elder Brother During Argument In Edo

Tragedy struck in Uzalla Community in Uhumwode Local Government Area of Edo State, when a 34-year-old man, Ajayi Omokaro, allegedly killed his elder brother Friday Omokaro,38 during a heated argument, last Tuesday.

According to reports, the deadly altercation began in the afternoon, about 3:30 PM, when the two brothers engaged in a violent dispute, which escalated dramatically, and in a fit of rage, Ajayi allegedly grabbed a machete and hacked his brother to death.

Police said the suspect has been arrested and taken in their custody as arrangement for his arraignment has begun. 

The spokesman, Edo State police Command CSP Moses Joel Yamu stated that the incident occurred on March 25, 2025, at about 3:30 PM, when the Ahor Police division received a report about the killing. 

CSP Moses Joel added that on the receipt of the report, police operatives, in collaboration with local vigilantes rushed to the scene, took the victim to an hospital where he was confirmed dead. 

“The murder weapon was recovered, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased,  Friday Omokaro 38yrs and his brother Iyayi Omokaro 34yrs had a misunderstanding which resulted into a fight, in the process, Iyayi Omokaro used a cutlass and hacked his elder brother to death.

“Iyayi Omokaro has been arrested and taken into custody for investigation. He has, however, confessed to the crime and would soon be charged to court”, CSP Moses Joel Yamu said.
