My Impeachment Is Illegal, Edo Deputy Gov Shaibu Reacts

Impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu has described his ouster by the State House of Assembly as an illegal act based on trumped up charges.

Shaibu made the assertion while reacting to his impeachment today, positing that the allegations against him were meant to placate the public and that his ordeal was as a result of his political ambition.

According to him, the impeachment is a descent to dictatorship and a threat to the foundation of the nation’s democracy.

He said he would not be deterred by the actions of detractors and assured Edo people that he would challenge his impeachment in the law court.

Meanwhile, a new deputy governor has been sworn in. He is Omobayo Marvellous Godwins Omobayo was born on July 19, 1986, and hails from Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the State.

He holds a B.Engr. Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Msc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).
